Kent Hood of Cape Carteret took his first ever eastern wild turkey on Saturday, April 14 while hunting in Craven County. The turkey weighed 19 pounds, and sported a 10 3/8 inch beard and 7/8 inch spurs. Hood's brother, Wayne County Longbeards President Brent Hood of Mount Olive, called the turkey in for an 18-yard shot.
