| Russ Cox of Princeton, NC, took this old Tom on April 19 in Johnston County. The turkey weighed 20 lbs, had a 12 1/2 inch beard and 1 3/8 inch spurs. Cox says he wants to register the bird, stating that it appears the beard would rank 4th in North Carolina. An estimated total score of 72.5 would rank the turkey at about 16th or 17th in the state. Cox said he figured the Eastern was a 4 or 5 year bird, and said he was hard to hunt and kill. |
